About Botanica BioScience

Botanica BioScience was established in 1993 to implement new innovations and higher scientific standards in the development, manufacture and marketing of proprietary natural medicine products. Botanica has developed botanical drug, functional food, and dietary supplement products with blockbuster potential in the US and international markets. By using proprietary, clinically developed formulation protocols adapted from both modern and Traditional Medicine, the Company starts with the proven advantage of being able to identify safe and effective ingredient combinations to target specific health challenges that have not been identified by the scientific literature. The Company’s products represent advancements in the development of natural health products in two other regards: scientific verification of product benefits and safety, and higher quality standards and controls for its ingredients. Clinical and Laboratory testing of Botanica products has demonstrated the superior and measureable health benefits of its first three lead products.

In 1994, Botanica initiated contractual collaboration with the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BUTCM) and the China Academy of TCM for the research and development of new ground-breaking plant medicines. In 1995, The Company entered into a contractual collaboration with the China National Corporation of Traditional Medicine (CNC), the largest association of herbal growers and manufacturers in the world, to undertake research in several areas: 1) Characteristics of plant quality growing under different environmental conditions throughout China; 2) Manufacturing and processing methods that would optimize the content and therapeutic benefits of each plant material of interest; and 3) Development of accurate and reproducible analytical methods by which to evaluate each plant material. The collaboration with CNC eventually turned into a joint venture company, PuRing PhytoMedical Research, in which, after several years, CNC’s position was bought out by Botanica and the JV’s management and key employees in 2003. The manager of PuRing, Dr Tan, was previously in a senior management position at CNC where he managed and expanded CNC’s enormous network of growers and manufacturing partners throughout China. PuRing and Dr Tan’s relationships with growers throughout China provide the Company with unparalleled control over sourcing of medicinal plant ingredients. Botanica’s collaboration has continued with BUTCM for many years where Botanica and PuRing have maintained private offices and laboratory facilities on their campus over the years. In August 2008, Botanica and PuRing moved into new Beijing offices with two floors of laboratory space while continuing our collaboration with BUTCM.

Botanica has established a comprehensive infrastructure and proven operational systems to support its goals in both botanical drug and dietary supplement industries. The Company is vertically integrated starting from direct relationships with “green” medicinal plant cultivators and wild crafters throughout China, GMP ingredient manufacturing, in-house and collaborative R&D programs, and thorough QA/QC programs. Botanica completes the integration with licensing agreements to marketing partners and/or by producing finished products and executing cost effective consumer marketing programs under its own PLANTIVA brand.

Botanica develops, sells, and licenses proprietary consumable polymolecular compounds for the health and wellness industry that can be used as ingredients or sold as finished products. Botanica compounds have shown to more effectively meet the needs of consumers than currently available products by consistently offering significant, discernable, scientifically substantiated health benefits. Botanica has developed products with blockbuster potential in beverage, functional food, and dietary supplement markets worldwide, and numerous other compounds are in the pipeline. The Company’s proprietary medium throughput screening system has allowed the research and development group to consistently create effective products that have shown a high degree of success in safety, pre-clinical and human clinical studies.
